I was born and raised in the mountains of Colorado. This is where I grew into my love of the outdoors and nature. From there, I attended the University of San Diego where I majored in Chemistry and unofficially majored in outdoor guiding and teambuilding facilitation. It was the first major that gave me the opportunity to assist in an organometallics lab where I was part of a group who published two peer reviewed articles. It was the second part of this that created my love of teaching, mentoring, and sharing my passions.
After graduating, I took some time to travel around the United States. I visited over 30 states.
